CPSC Recall on Executive Chairs as a result of Fall Hazard

After receiving eight non-injury reports concerning seat plate weld cracking or breaking, the Florida based importer recalled a style of executive chairs via the Consumer Product Safety Commission webpage (recall number: 16-069) on 7 January 2016. Purchased from nationwide stores and online platform, the high-back adjustable chairs with black base were suspected to pose falling risk to users. About 300,000 of these five-wheels seats were involved which entered the market between October 2012 and September 2015. The Commission has urged consumers to stop using the defective chairs and contact importer for product replacement. In response to the incident, Hong Kong Standards and Testing Centre (STC) offer tests, in accordance with ANSI and BS standards, to evaluate safety, durability and structural adequacy of these office seats and furniture.
